Meet Our Team
Dr. Lori Ogden is the Co-Founder and Director of Curriculum and Academic Innovation at STEM Peak Performance, LLC. With over 25 years of experience in teaching, research, and leadership across K-12 and higher education, she is a dedicated educator and leader committed to advancing student success in STEM education. Dr. Ogden holds a Ph.D. in Education (2014), an M.S. in Mathematics (1997), and a B.S. in Secondary Education (Mathematics, Grades 5-12) (1996), all from West Virginia University (WVU). Currently, she serves as an Associate Director of the School of Mathematical and Data Sciences (SMDS) and leads the Institute for Mathematics Learning (IML) at WVU, where she drives curriculum innovation, faculty development, and student-centered learning.
Dr. Ogden has led faculty teams in realigning courses, developing comprehensive assessment plans, and standardizing key learning outcomes. Her initiatives have resulted in the implementation of common assessment questions, standardized scoring rubrics, and instructor training programs to enhance teaching effectiveness. She has played a pivotal role in redesigning foundational mathematics courses, including Quantitative Reasoning, College Algebra, Trigonometry, Precalculus, and Calculus 1, ensuring a more seamless academic experience for students.
As a Co-PI on an NSF-funded project, Dr. Ogden played a key role in developing the OPTIMUM (Online Practices for Tutoring in Mathematics Using Meaningful Interactions) Handbook. This resource provides evidence-based strategies for online tutoring and includes structured training materials for both tutors and tutoring center leaders. She is also an active member of WVU’s First2 Network Institutional Team, which is part of a national NSF-funded initiative focused on improving college retention rates for rural, first-generation STEM students. Additionally, Dr. Ogden led the creation of Rock Your STEM Major!, a virtual summer camp designed to prepare incoming college freshmen for STEM coursework.
Dr. Ogden has contributed extensively to digital learning, partnering with Cengage Group, a global education technology company. Her work includes developing lecture videos for Cengage’s Concept Video Project for WebAssign, covering Developmental Math, Liberal Arts Math, and College Algebra. She also created video content for Cengage’s Math Mindset Series, featuring topics such as How to Work in Groups and Math in Real Life, and is currently co-authoring a Quantitative Reasoning textbook for Cengage.

Her extensive experience and expertise enable her to bridge the gap between research, teaching, and real-world application, fostering effective learning experiences that empower both educators and students.
